A massive meat recall over Listeria concerns has raised alarm about ready-to-eat meat and poultry products produced between June 19, 2024, and October 8, 2024. Items with the establishment numbers “51205” or “P-51205” on the packaging are affected. The recall affects over 300 items and nearly 10 million pounds of products, including pre-made salads and frozen meals, sold at major retailers like 7-Eleven, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Target, and Kroger. These include popular brands like Dole, Marketside, Great Value, Fresh Express, and Atkins are among those impacted and produced by BrucePac, a food company located in Durant, Oklahoma. Listeria Symptoms:
Listeria is a bacterial infection that can affect the intestines, leading to symptoms similar to other foodborne illnesses. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), common symptoms include diarrhea and vomiting. These symptoms typically arise after consuming contaminated food.

Listeria infections of the intestines typically begin within 24 hours of consuming contaminated food, causing mild symptoms like diarrhea and vomiting that resolve within three days, according to the CDC. However, some cases can develop into more severe, invasive infections where the bacteria spread beyond the gut. This is especially dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. Invasive listeria in pregnant women can lead to miscarriage or stillbirth. Symptoms of invasive listeria include fever, flu-like symptoms, headaches, stiff neck, and seizures.
